Bruce Brainerd, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel presented Pet Project Foundation President Sue Walsh with a check for $ 7,500 at the Howl-O-Ween Yappy Hour on October 27.
?Yappy Hour is a fantastic example of our mission in hosting events that bring the local community together, but also generate awareness and support for charitable causes,? said Brainerd. ?Since the first Yappy Hour in April, our canine cocktail events have grown in popularity with more than 1,200 guests attending Howl-O-Ween. The Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest featured 136 contestants dressed as everything from devils, one-eyed-green monsters and sharks to cheerleaders, princesses and pirates. Group entries were also popular with and entry of the Wizard of Oz, the Village People and a family of bees. Winners were awarded in the categories of Scariest, Most Glamorous, and Funniest and, of course, Best in Show, which was a Great Dane by the name of Gunner who was dressed as a zebra. Each winner received a hand-crafted dog bowl by Debbie Carmen and a gift box of wine from Mutt Lynch Winery. Gunner and his human companion also received a Posh Pooch experience at the resort.
Yappy Hour is part of The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel?s Community Footprints program.
